Simon Community Scotland is a Scottish charity that works to combat the causes and effects of homelessness across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Central Scotland. They’ve been providing front line services to people who are homeless for over 54 years. The people they support are the hardest to reach and most socially excluded homeless population due to the significant trauma they’ve experienced, often from childhood, and exacerbated by a life on the streets.
“We build trust and work with our service users on person centred support plans,” says Melissa, the charity’s Period Friendly Volunteer Coordinator. “Part of this support involves providing them with the basic human right of dignity – in the form of clothing, underwear and toiletries. We can use the provision of these items as a tool to introduce the types of support we offer. Due to our Period Friendly campaign, we have a stock of ladies’ underwear but we desperately need men’s boxers of all sizes, especially during COVID-19, as we’re helping more people into temporary accommodation.”
Smalls is delighted to provide Simon Community Scotland with underwear for ladies and, in particular, new pants for men.
