(Lisa, two gallery systems… one above perhaps needed to address the Microsoft Edge problem… below alternative possibly easier as it uses a lightbox system that goes over the header, making the ‘next’ button easier… the one above is set to auto as the ‘next’ button makes the page jump up and down to accommodate header.. so pros and cons whichever is chosen!)

(Lisa, two alternative dropdown options below)

Maria Macnamara MBE, conceived and launched Smalls for All in 2009. Maria worked in financial services for 30 years and has been a children’s respite carer since 1997. In 2004 she decided to try a different kind of holiday and spent three weeks working with children in an orphanage in Brazil. This encouraged her to volunteer to work in Thailand in 2006 and Ethiopia in 2009.

It was following her experience in Ethiopia that she decided to set up Smalls for All.

In 2015 Maria was recognised as an inspirational volunteer and awarded a Point of Light Award by the Prime Minister. “Maria’s work will have had an immediate impact on the daily lives of thousands of women and I am delighted to recognise her service with this Point of Light Award.” Points of Life are outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community. In 2016 Maria was honoured with an MBE.

Alan spent the majority of his career in the Aerospace and Defence industry. At the age of 50 he moved into the third sector and took on responsibility for Mission Direct, a Christian charity that builds schools, medical facilities, safe houses and homes for some of our world’s poorest in 11 countries round the world. He is passionate about supporting the vulnerable and those living on the edge.

Smalls for All captured his heart after he witnessed the amazing impact that giving someone their own underwear can have. Underwear not only restores dignity it allows the street kids to go swimming in public places, play football etc, etc.

Smalls for All
Thanks to everyone for continuing to support Smalls. Unfortunately, 1,294 donations were sent to our old address in March, so please do continue to help us spread the word that we’re in West Calder nowadays. This week we’re welcoming back our sorting volunteers who live outside West Lothian. The small backlog we have will be tackled in no time! For all the latest news, please see our latest Talking Pants at www.smallsforall.org/talking-pants-april-2021/. Maria ... See MoreSee Less

Smalls for All
In February, we told you we’d joined Recycle4Charity. From then until the end of March, you had raised £84.95 for Smalls for All simply by sending your old ink cartridges to them instead of to landfill! Thank you all so much. If you missed our post about this, it’s never too late. At no cost to you, we’ll receive a cash donation when you recycle your ink cartridge through Recycle4Charity, which offers a free and easy-to-use ink recycling programme. (Though please note that packages with less than £2 item value won’t generate a donation.) It’s not only an easy way to raise funds, it helps protect the environment too. Already, our supporters have kept 5.82kg from landfill! To send your cartridges or start collecting for us, click here - www.recycle4charity.co.uk/Register/C102202 Thank you, Maria ... Smalls for All
The last year has been hard on everyone and, as you may know, charities have also struggled as a result of the impact of Covid restrictions on fundraising. But the need for underwear is as great as ever. Can you help Smalls for All by doing a little fundraising so that we can keep providing underwear to those in Africa and the UK who can’t afford or can’t get any? Perhaps you could have a clearout of your attic and cupboards and sell things you no longer want on ebay, donating the proceeds to Smalls. Or why not join this year’s virtual Kiltwalk, choosing Smalls as your charity? You may have heard that online fundraising platform Wonderful has just relaunched – so if you have other fundraising ideas, do give it a try – we’d love you to be a smarty pants fundraiser for Smalls! Anything you can do to help is hugely appreciated. Thank you, Maria 💸🩲🩳🙏 ... See MoreSee Less
