Why will you donate?

There are lots of reasons for donating to Smalls – below are just some of them. Whatever your reason for donating – thank you!

Some of you have seen the need yourselves…

“I’ve seen for myself the difficulties faced by people who have no underwear,” Amara told us. That’s just one of the sentiments sometimes expressed by the lovely people who send new pants (or new or gently worn bras) to Smalls for All. Our thanks go to all of them for helping us make a difference.

Some of you can’t bear the thought…

“I can’t imagine how awful it would be to have no underwear – I hope this donation will help give someone in need their dignity back,” Sophie wrote on the note she enclosed with her parcel. Lots of the people who send us new pants (or new and gently worn bras) donate for this reason, and we couldn’t manage without their kindness.

Some of you can’t wear a bra anymore…

“I’ve got lots of lovely bras I can’t wear anymore and I hate to see them go to waste,” Tracy’s note says. We’re so glad she thought of us. This is just one of the reasons people donate to Smalls. All the bras and brand new pants we receive help people in Africa and the UK who can’t afford or can’t get any, while also reducing the amount of perfectly good items that go to landfill.

Some of you have lost a loved one…

“My daughter died recently and I know she would have wanted her things to be given to help others,” Ann’s message says. It’s always hard to read notes like this enclosed with donations of bras and unused/unopened packs of pants. Lots of donations come from people grieving for a loved one – a special thanks to them for thinking about us at a time when they’re dealing with such loss.

Some have personal experience…

“I remember exactly what it felt like when my last pair of underpants were falling apart and I couldn’t afford any more,” says the email from Jack telling us he’s ordered 50 pairs of pants for us. Personal experience is just one of the reasons that prompt people to donate, and our thanks go to every Jack out there for helping us make a difference.

Some of you are having a clear-out and want to recycle…

“I would hate to see my perfectly good bras going to landfill just because I’ve changed sizes,” Jenny says after having a good clear-out, “Not to mention the knickers I’ve never even taken out the packet!” That’s two good reasons for donating really – having a clear-out after gaining or losing weight and wanting to avoid needless waste.
