Thanks to you, we were able to provide underwear to Chifundo UK recently. The organisation’s Lynn Walton told us, “We work to empower girls and women in Malawi. We run the Lotus Project delivering packs that contain reusable sanitary pads, panties, soap and a flannel, with training about menstrual health, to girls in poor schools around Blantyre, the second city in Malawi. So far, nearly 4,700 girls at 18 different schools have received packs. We’re beginning at another school in a poor area on the outskirts of Blantyre and now we have the underwear to give to them. Often girls in Malawi do not have any underwear.”
We were also able to provide underwear to the Happy Baby Community. The organisation’s Rohan Ochera told us, “We support women seeking asylum in this country, who are pregnant or have young children. Many of them have been trafficked. One of the things we do for pregnant women, who usually have next to nothing, is send them a ‘hospital bag’ which includes some essential items that most of us take for granted. Knickers are included in the bag.” As an example of what this means to those mums, Rohan gave us this anonymous feedback, “Dear Happy Baby, I received the package you sent me. I am really thankful for everything that you did and I really love all of the things you sent me. I appreciate all the support and kindness. Thank you so much.”

We mentioned Global Recycling Day last month, and that a way to help cut down waste AND support us at the same time was to give your old ink cartridges a second life with Recycle4Charity. Thanks to everyone who chose Smalls as their charity, we’ve received £181.50 this month! It’s an amazing amount of money and a great way of reducing landfill so, if you’ve not already signed up, please consider signing up. www.recycle4charity.co.uk
As always, thank you all for supporting Smalls,
Maria
