Total underwear collected is 1,552,069

This month we reopened our warehouse, with a reduced number of local volunteers, and they’ve been working incredibly hard to meet the demand for underwear that we’ve received over the last few weeks. Since our last Talking Pants, we’ve provided underwear (7,808 pants and bras) to 8 organisations:

  • 243 pairs of women’s and children’s pants to Rotherham Rise, a charity that supports women, men and children affected by domestic abuse. The pants will be going to the women and children living in their refuge.
  • 500 pairs of children’s pants to the West Berkshire Community Baby Bank.
  • 300 pairs of children’s pants to TWR in St Neots.
  • 2,103 pairs of children’s, ladies’ and men’s pants to Care4Calais, a charity working with refugees and asylum seekers.
  • 1,000 pairs of girls’ and ladies’ pants to Chifundo UK, which will be included in the kits as part of the Lotus Project in Malawi.
  • 284 pairs of children’s pants to Sal’s Shoes, which will be included with a consignment of shoes going to an orphanage in Sierra Leone.
  • 3,145 pairs of children’s, ladies’ and men’s pants, and bras to Diamonds in the Community, a baby and family clothing bank in Airdrie.
  • 233 pairs of pants and bras to the Bethany Christian Trust in Edinburgh.

We received 5,727 parcels in February and we’re making good progress in opening and sorting your donations. Thanks to everyone who continues to support Smalls. As you can see from the above underwear, your support means more than ever just now. If you’re thinking of sending us donations of underwear, please make sure:

  • you have the correct address (Five Sisters Business Park, Westwood, West Calder, EH55 8PN)
  • you’ve enclosed your email address if you’d like an acknowledgement email.

Thanks to everyone who has registered with Recyle4Charity which offers a free and easy-to-use ink recycling programme. In the last month, you’ve raised £54.25 and kept 1.59kg from landfill! At no cost to you, we’ll receive a cash donation when you recycle your ink cartridge through Recycle4Charity. It’s not only an easy way to raise funds, it helps protect the environment too! To send your cartridges or start collecting for us, click here.

I’m delighted to let you know we’ve now set up a text-giving option for Smalls – a quick and convenient way to make donations through your mobile phone number. You can donate any whole amount from £1 to £20 by texting 70450. For example:

  • To donate £3, text SMALLS 3
  • To donate £10, text SMALLS 10
  • To donate £20, text SMALLS 20

And, if you’re a taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation by 25% just by adding Gift Aid.

We really are indebted to each and every person who makes an underwear or financial contribution to support our work. Without your generosity and kindness we wouldn’t be able to carry on.

Thank you, Maria.
